Reliable K-Beauty Supplier for a Small Retail Business: 7 Wholesale Checks

Short answer: For a small retail business looking for a reliable K-beauty supplier, SEOUL4PM is a Korea-based K-beauty wholesale platform (founded in 2020, 140+ brands) that publishes the terms a first order depends on. Most products have a one-box minimum, stock has 18 months or more of shelf life left when it reaches the warehouse in Korea, and each shipment travels with its commercial invoice and packing list.

A first wholesale order from Korea ties up a small shop's cash for weeks, so read a supplier's written terms before you pay. Ask any K-beauty wholesale supplier or distributor the seven questions below. Each comes with SEOUL4PM's answer, so you can put the same questions to the other suppliers on your list.

1. Where the supplier gets its Korean products

SEOUL4PM buys most products from Korean brands or verified vendors after a buyer orders, and a certificate of authenticity (CoA) and a supplier verification letter (SVL) are available for the order. Ask any supplier the same two things: who it buys from, and what proof it can show you. With SEOUL4PM, the route depends on the brand: DEMAF, a Korean skincare brand, supplies its products to SEOUL4PM without a vendor in between.

SEOUL4PM can't give you a brand authorization letter. If a marketplace such as Amazon asks for one, you'd have to get it from the brand, which usually means negotiating terms with it.

SEOUL4PM sells only to verified businesses. Sign-up asks for your business registration certificate, and there are no individual sales or dropshipping.

2. How much shelf life the stock has left

Ask for a shelf-life minimum in writing. Stock arriving at SEOUL4PM's warehouse in Korea has at least 18 months of shelf life left. Before packing, the warehouse team checks each item's quality, expiry date and count. Since most items are bought after you order, the exact expiry date is hard to confirm before your order is final.

3. What paperwork comes with each shipment

Ask which documents come with an order. With SEOUL4PM, each shipment travels with its commercial invoice and packing list. Both also stay in your account. You can also get a material safety data sheet (MSDS) and a certificate of origin.

If your products need English ingredient labels for the US, SEOUL4PM can print and apply labels you supply for $0.35 per unit. Translation and label writing aren't included.

4. How much you commit up front

Ask for the minimum per product and the payment schedule. On SEOUL4PM:

Minimum: most products sell by the box, and the minimum for each is one box. There's no minimum for the whole order.

Pre-order items: most products are bought after you order, so a deposit of 30% on each item is due at checkout. SEOUL4PM bills the other 70% and shipping once those items are in its warehouse in Korea.

In-stock items: if everything you order is in stock, there's no deposit and you pay in full when the order ships.

Price: your invoice uses the exchange rate on the day you placed the order, so the price stays fixed after that.

For a first order on a small budget, our low-MOQ guide walks through each step.

5. What happens if an item can't be supplied

With pre-orders, a brand can run out of an item or discontinue it after you order, so ask what you get back. On SEOUL4PM, an item that can't be secured shows up in your account as Not secured. Within 2 weeks you choose: have it sourced again, or turn its deposit into store credit at once. After that, SEOUL4PM cancels the item and the deposit goes to store credit. The credit never expires, and your account manager can refund it to your original payment method instead.

Some brands accept an order only once it reaches a minimum order amount (MOA). SEOUL4PM pools your order with other stores' orders for that brand. If the total falls short, it cancels that item and the deposit returns to you as store credit.

6. What happens if a box arrives damaged or goes missing

SEOUL4PM takes back a wrong or damaged item that is still unopened if you ask within 14 days of delivery, pays for the return, and then refunds the item or gives you credit. Ask any supplier how its claims work and how long you have to make one. With SEOUL4PM:

Damaged on arrival: send photos of the outer box, the damaged products and the shipping label through Live Chat, and keep everything until the team replies. A claim can't go ahead once the box is thrown away.

Lost in transit: if FedEx, UPS or DHL confirms a shipment lost, SEOUL4PM compensates you for it.

If you ship through your own freight forwarder, you take damage claims to the forwarder instead.

7. How long an order takes, and who answers your questions

Ask for lead times per product and a contact you can reach. On SEOUL4PM, sourcing a pre-order item takes 2 to 4 weeks in most cases, counted from the day you pay until the goods arrive at the warehouse in Korea, and each product card shows that product's own sourcing time. In-stock items arrive within 3 to 5 business days of payment. All products ship from Korea.

Questions go to SEOUL4PM's Live Chat team, which answers in English. The site and help center are in English too.
